Board Meeting - 05/26/2005
Went to my first board meeting Thursday, so decided it's time for the first "unofficial" notice.
The meeting was at the Swiss Inn at 7:00. Sixteen (16) residents were represented. Both of the covenant changes, one on house-painting rules and the other on outside shed rules, were passed with one dissenting vote. If you didn't received a copy of these changes in the U. S. Mail, email our president, Alan Kraft (Apkatofl@aol.com), and he can get you a copy.
At the meeting, I announced the presence of this website and suggested that people check it out and sign in the guest book. If you haven't yet, do so and we'll add your email address to our distribution list for earth-shaking notices like this or when someone decides to announce a garage sale. Tell your friends! Our distribution only has 9 names so far -- I'd hoped to get alot more than that by now.

Board Meeting - 06/20/2005
At the 05/26 meeting, Alan announced that the board is planning a meeting June 20, 2005 (probably at the Fire House) to decide on whether to hire a management company to handle the association, do our newsletters, maintain a website, etc. Seems there aren't enough neighborhood volunteers to do the work and the current board has been doing it for longer than they had originally planned. Watch for the notice (the little sign at all entrances) if you're interested in attending.

Hurricane Wilma Heroes - 10/24/2005
Joe Cuccichella, A member of the SGHA Board of Directors braved wind, rain, cold weather, and dirty pond water (5 feet deep) to unclog the drain on the Jacaranda Pond during Hurricane Wilma. Joe was assisted by Phil Babcock, Mal Baxter and Alan DeLaverne.
Many thanks Gentlemen - especially Joe!!!!!
Reminder to residents - we are each responsible for making sure debris does not get into the ponds and clogs the drain.
The reason the front entrance street floods is that the Tamarind pond drains into the Jacaranda pond (underground). The Jacaranda pond drains into the ditch behind the houses on the west end of Jacaranda Circle. If the drain is not functioning well, due to debris in the opening, the Tamarind pond overflows, and water collects on the streets and in our yards.

Below, you'll find the final page of the Winter 2006 edition of About Town, The Official Newsletter of the City of Rockledge. I included this page, because it has names and email addresses for all city officials and executive support staff, plus the holiday schedule for trash pickup (which I never seem to be aware of).

Easter Egg Hunt
Arrive at park one hour prior
Divide off areas to hide eggs for four age groups
0-3 years throw eggs on the ground (be sure to use eggs labeled for this age group as they have safer candy in them)
4-6 years – slightly hide about half the eggs so easy to find – rest on the ground
7-9 years – eggs are visible from some angle but are mostly hidden
10-12 years – eggs are still slightly visible s from some angle. ( don’t let Bill throw them in the woods –)
Keep kids in the park from taking the eggs.
There will be 5 ++ prize eggs in each age group – place prizes on the table by age – children get to choose a prize . I always buy extra prizes so the last one to collect still gets a choice of prizes. Extra prizes may be given out at your discretion – to the ones with the least eggs or most eggs or whatever.
Some kids will get eggs that say take to the table for gummies ( they would not fit in the eggs)
I usually bring extra grocery plastic bags for those that forgot to bring a basket.
Make sure most everyone is there before you let kids start hunting . Have kids line up by age and they start at the same time for each age group.
Food – we provide hotdogs and a drink, chips napkins, plates. The idea is to keep it simple.
Have fun – make it a point to meet some one new!!!

Subject: Unhappy Independence Day
------------------
Larry,
I just updated my webpage entitled "A Great Independence Day, 2006". It started out as a great day, then ended badly when I learned that the fireworks ban is still not being observed by Rockledge residents nor enforced by Rockledge police.
I'm sure I don't speak for all the Sabal Grove residents listed in CC above, but possibly I do for some. I'd really appreciate it if you could do whatever possible to try to enforce the fireworks ban at the next Rockledge Fireworks Holiday - I believe that would be Christmas, unless there's another I've forgotten about.
I'm including this letter in Notice and Alerts on our SabalGrove.com website, with the plan to include progress (hopefully) updates as future Fireworks Holidays pass.
Sincerely,
Robert and Joyce Hoffman

NOTE: Shortly after sending this email, I received a very courteous phone call from a representative of the Rockledge Police Department. He explained some of the problems they have in enforcing the new county-wide ordinance and the plans they have to improve the situation in the future. He sympathised with my concerns and is hoping things will improve by the next ROCKLEDGE FIREWORKS HOLIDAY. Thanks to him and the mayor for their prompt response.
